Vicor to present the benefits of high-density power conversion for UAVs at the Key Pathways for Unmanned Vehicle Technology Seminar

UAV and drone applications are growing rapidly and advanced power systems are needed to deliver peak performance. Advanced features require longer range, runtime and payload levels, which taxes power limits. Commercial UAVs are embracing new applications that require more functionality, and power is often a limiting factor in their design. Vicor high-density modular power conversion is essential for space-constrained designs that require flexibility and scalability. Power modules thermally adept packaging reduces power losses while the low noise profile simplifies filter design.

Vicor, the high-performance power module company, will deliver a presentation on high density power conversion for UAVs at the Key Pathways for Unmanned Vehicle Technology Seminar on May 15th in Taiwan.

The Vicor 48V power module ecosystem provides solutions for the entire power delivery network, and enables innovative designs for the next generation of UAV development. Compared to other DC-DC converters, Vicor power modules are smaller, lighter and more power dense. Power modules enable UAVs to take on larger and heavier payloads, increasing flight time and functionality. Also, these modules can be easily paralleled, enabling power design to scale up or down in power quickly as UAV power demands change. This capability future-proofs many designs, allowing for the same power architecture to be deployed within a platform of various sized UAV systems.
