Karin Elliott, vice chancellor for Human Resources for the University System of Georgia (USG), has been named the interim vice president and chief human resources officer (CHRO) for Georgia Tech. Elliott will begin her new role on Sept. 1 and will report directly to Tricia Chastain, executive vice president for Administration and Finance.

Former CHRO Skye Duckett departed the Institute on Aug. 14, and Elliott will lead Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) on an interim basis during this leadership transition. She will work with partners across Georgia Tech to ensure continuity and the effective delivery of human resources support services.

"I am grateful to Karin for agreeing to support Georgia Tech during this transition," said Chastain. "She brings immense experience and strategic insight. GTHR is critical to the Institute's success, and I am confident Karin will bring a collaborative and service-oriented approach to the role."

Elliott has more than 18 years of HR leadership experience with the USG, including four years with Kennesaw State University before joining the System Office in 2012. In her current role at the USG, she leads HR strategy, policy, compensation, compliance, and total rewards for USG's 25 public colleges and universities supporting more than 48,000 employees and 382,000 students. She provides strategic HR guidance to leaders across the system in support of USG's mission and strategic priorities, sponsoring multiple HR advisory committees, fostering collaboration and stakeholder engagement, and earning national recognition for innovation in employee benefits and financial well-being programs.

"I want to thank Chancellor Sonny Perdue and USG Chief Operating Officer Teresa MacCartney for their support in allowing me to serve Georgia Tech in the interim role," said Elliott. "I am fortunate to have worked with many colleagues at Georgia Tech and within GTHR and am excited that I will be able to work closely with them, and with their teams, to advance Georgia Tech's mission."

Chastain will lead GTHR until Sept. 1. Plans to permanently fill the position of vice president and chief human resources officer will be announced as they develop.
