City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) facilities will be closed on Saturday, January 10 and Sunday, January 11 due to ongoing hazardous road and weather conditions.
CBJ encourages all residents to stay off the roads for their safety and the safety of others, and to allow snow removal and street maintenance teams to do their work as safely and efficiently as possible. Please limit travel in known avalanche exposure areas.
The closure impacts all CBJ facilities and offices listed below.
CBJ Facilities Closed - January 10-11:
Capital Transit continues to operate on winter routes. Routes are not able to make stops on Glacier Highway between the Federal Building and Bartlett Hospital. Visit juneaucapitaltransit.org for more information.
CBJ is performing ongoing assessment, monitoring and clearing of roofs at CBJ facilities, and continuing to ramp up staffing and resources to support these efforts.
CBJ staff and our agency partners at the National Weather Service and Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities are closely monitoring the incoming atmospheric river and associated impacts to public facilities, including the increasing avalanche risk.
