ALEXANDRIA, Va., (March 3, 2026)-National PTA is pleased to recognize Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) with its 2026 Congressional Voice for Children Award. The award honors outstanding leadership and commitment in Congress to making a difference for the education, health, safety and well-being of our nation's children. National PTA will acknowledge Senator Britt during the association's 2026 Legislative Conference, Tuesday, March 3.
"National PTA is pleased to honor Senator Britt with our 2026 Congressional Voice for Children Award," said Yvonne Johnson, president of National PTA. "Our association's mission to make every child's potential a reality would not be possible without policy leaders such as Senator Britt, and we thank and commend her for being a staunch advocate for issues critical to children's education, health, safety and well-being."
As a mother of school-aged children and the first elected female senator for the state of Alabama, National PTA appreciates Senator Britt's comprehensive work advocating for our nation's children, families and schools. Specifically, National PTA applauds Senator Britt's work this past year supporting the release of critical federal education funding and championing the continuation of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding for families during the federal government shutdown. Like National PTA, Senator Britt also cares deeply about youth mental health and their safety, privacy and well-being online.
"I'm incredibly honored to receive the Congressional Voice for Children Award. As a mother of two school-aged kids, I don't have to ask parents what it's like to raise kids today, I'm living it. This is why I am dedicated to supporting hardworking families-to ensure every child has the chance to achieve their American Dream," said Senator Britt. "From securing updated childcare tax credits in the Senate's reconciliation package last year, to advancing bipartisan legislation to keep kids and teens safe online, to fighting for educational opportunity and putting parents back in the driver's seat, I am deeply proud to be a voice for families in the Senate. The next generation is our greatest asset, and I remain committed to advocating for policies that strengthen opportunities for our nation's children."
Senator Britt will be recognized during an awards celebration as part of National PTA's 2026 Legislative Conference. Every year, National PTA's Legislative Conference or LegCon brings together PTA leaders and child advocates from across the country to take action on the association's advocacy priorities. Attendees will meet with members of Congress, Tuesday, March 3, to advocate for public schools and policies that protect children's health, safety and well-being. Among the issues, attendees will be urging Congress to restore funding for SNAP and pass the Senate versions of the Children and Teens' Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA 2.0) and the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA).
