• Election info: Absentee ballots for the Nov. 3 General Election went out Sept. 24. The issue also covers the two statewide proposals on the ballot, and early voting begins Oct. 23.
• Officers of the Year: The Southfield Police Department honored Officer Daniel Restum and Detective Anthonie Korkis. It also recognized Deputy Chief Jeffrey Jagielski for 31 years of service.
• Neighborhood resources: The City can help associations restart or grow, with meeting space, mailings, model bylaws and grants for entrance markers.
• Resident reminders: Tips on yard waste, lawn upkeep, tree permits, overnight parking and reporting issues through Eyes on Southfield and the Southfield Solutions app.
• New business: HORSE Powertrain opened its first North American office at the Southfield Town Center.
• New softball field: The City and Lawrence Tech dedicated a new home field for the LTU Women's Softball Team.
• Home games: The schedule for Southfield A&T Warriors and LTU Blue Devils home games.
• Coming up: The Community Pride & PhotoPrize Awards (Oct. 1), the "Be the Art" Costume Ball (Nov. 13) and more on the City calendar.
