WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Jeff Hurd (CO-03) gaveled in his first hearing as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs.

"I am honored to serve as the new Chairman of the Subcommittee and I look forward to working with our American Indian, Alaska Native, and Insular Partners," said Rep. Hurd. "The Subcommittee is meeting today to discuss four bills, H.R.410, The Alaska Native Vietnam Era Veterans Land Allotment Extension Act of 2025, introduced by Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK), H.R.412, To Authorize the Bay Mills Indian Community of the State of Michigan to convey land and interests in land owned by the Tribe, introduced by Rep. Jack Bergman (R-MI), H.R.504, Miccosukee Reserved Area Amendments Act, introduced by Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), and H.R.741, The Stronger Engagement for Indian Health Needs Act of 2025, introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ)."
