Worth County Hazard Mitigation plan receives FEMA approval pending local jurisdiction adoption.

The Worth County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan has received approval from FEMA Region 7 and Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, pending formal adoption by at least one of the ten participating jurisdictions. Over the next month, the Worth County Board of Supervisors, all seven city councils, and the school boards of Central Springs and Northwood-Kensett school districts are expected to consider resolutions to adopt the plan.

This marks the final step in a multi-year effort to review and update Worth County's hazard mitigation strategy. FEMA requires such plans to be reviewed and updated at least every five years or following a presidential disaster declaration affecting the county. By adopting this plan, local officials ensure that future actions help mitigate potential disaster risks-ultimately reducing their impact on Worth County residents.
