College Board and NFTE Partner to Expand Entrepreneurship and Personal Finance Education Nationwide
College Board and the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) today announced a new strategic partnership to help more students gain access to key skills in business management, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through Advanced Placement® (AP®) Business with Personal Finance, an innovative new course launching nationwide in fall 2026.
AP Business with Personal Finance is one of College Board's new AP Career Kickstart courses, which combine the decades of college-level rigor that AP is known for with industry-guided relevance and are designed to build valuable skills that prepare students for high-demand, high-wage careers. Combining AP coursework with NFTE's experiential model has the potential to redefine what advanced learning looks like-academically rigorous while also deeply practical, highly engaging, and directly connected to students' futures and real-world success.
"Education is entering a moment of profound transformation. As AI reshapes the future of work and human capability, students need more than academic knowledge alone. They need adaptability, creativity, initiative, resilience, and the confidence to turn ideas into action," said Dr. J.D. LaRock, president and CEO of Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). "Our partnership with the College Board reflects a shared commitment to preparing young people not just to succeed within existing systems, but to shape what comes next. By bringing together academic opportunity and entrepreneurial learning, we have the chance to expand access to experiences that help students become more innovative, future-ready, and empowered to drive meaningful change in their communities and careers."
For nearly four decades, NFTE has helped students develop entrepreneurial mindsets, financial literacy, communication skills, creativity, adaptability, and real-world problem solving through authentic, hands-on learning experiences that make education feel relevant and meaningful.
"We're thrilled that schools and districts offering AP Business with Personal Finance will be able to tap into NFTE's network of educators, entrepreneurs, business volunteers, and corporate partners for work-based learning experiences, mentorship opportunities, and competitions," said Jennifer Mulhern, vice president of AP Program Access. "AP Business with Personal Finance validates key skills in business management, entrepreneurship, marketing, and finance, preparing students with skills that qualify them for high-demand, high-growth jobs. Through the NFTE partnership and network, we can ensure those credentials reach a broader generation of future business leaders."
AP Business with Personal Finance is a yearlong high school business and personal finance course that aligns closely with a college-level introduction to business course. Students will explore the business disciplines of entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, accounting, and management through real-world business applications, case studies, and project based learning. In addition, students will learn and apply all the National Standards for Personal Financial Education created by the Council for Economic Education and the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
As with all Career Kickstart courses, students who complete AP Business with Personal Finance will be eligible to earn college credit and an employer-endorsed credential that opens doors for students interested in two- and four-year colleges, technical schools, apprenticeships, the military, or direct entry into the workforce.
