From Compassion to Action — How Target Transforms Communities as a Good Neighbor

Real change begins with each of us ...

... and at Target, we're committed to turning that belief into action. That's why we've launched our new community focus on revitalizing neighborhoods, supporting local needs and creating lasting opportunities for growth. By rolling up our sleeves and working hand-in-hand with local partners, we walk alongside the communities where our guests and team members live, work and grow, transforming spaces into places that inspire and uplift.

Building a brighter future

From June to December 2024, Target team members are volunteering in 14 major cities, partnering with Points of Light, Habitat for Humanity and other organizations to tackle critical issues like economic development, community safety and housing. Together, we're providing access to resources and opportunities throughout the year - with plans to expand in 2025.

Being part of something so beautiful and memorable will not only stay with the volunteers and kids but also with the community for a long time to come.

Transforming cities, empowering people

Target teams are already creating lasting change in some of our biggest cities. In Chicago, more than 100 Target volunteers worked together to revitalize UCAN Chicago, building planter boxes, adding new community seating and refreshing the basketball courts to create a more welcoming space. In New York, our team partnered with Henry Street Settlement to pack hygiene kits, build garden beds and create opportunities for over 10,000 people in need. And in Philadelphia, Target volunteers joined forces with Fairmount Park to beautify the park, remove invasive species and enhance the space for 1,000 local residents.

Most recently, we partnered with Hands On Atlanta to breathe new life into Usher Collier School. With the help of 130 volunteers, we painted vibrant murals, built pollinator gardens and designed an inclusive sensory room to ensure every child has a space where they feel inspired and supported.

The road ahead

And this is only the beginning. In the coming weeks, we'll be heading to Dallas, Houston and Miami, where our teams will continue to uplift local communities. From constructing homes with Habitat for Humanity to transforming parks and schools into vibrant community spaces, we're focused on creating lasting connections and opening doors for families to thrive.
