Fatal Shooting Under Investigation

DENTON, TX, Dec. 30, 2024 - The Denton Police Department is investigating a Sunday afternoon shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.

At approximately 1:12 p.m. Sunday, Denton Police and Fire responded to a shooting at the 200 block of Normal Street. A resident called 911 to report that an unknown male, later identified as Cody Stewart, was unresponsive and lying on the ground.

A second resident was involved in a disturbance with Stewart which resulted in Stewart being shot. First responders began life saving measures on Stewart for an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to Medical City Denton Hospital for treatment and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
