Padilla Secures Over $4.5 Million for Four Projects Across the Tahoe Region

TAHOE, CA - Today, U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.) announced that he secured over $4.5 million in federal funding for four projects across the Tahoe region through Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations bills. This funding is part of the $241,794,366 in total Congressionally Directed Spending funding that Padilla delivered for California for FY 2026.

"I am proud to help secure millions in federal funding to support transformative projects that will deliver lasting improvements for communities around Lake Tahoe," said Senator Padilla. "These investments will support local governments and non-profits working on the ground in our communities. They will improve response efforts for medical, fire, and power emergencies, while bolstering Tahoe's water infrastructure. As Californians struggle with the rising cost of living under President Trump's harmful economic agenda, these crucial investments will make a tangible difference for Tahoe residents."

Projects across the Tahoe region that will receive federal funding include:

  • Facilities and Equipment to Renovate Emergency Facilities (Mono County) - $1.34 million: This funding will enable Mono County to repair and upgrade EMS stations in Bridgeport, Walker, and June Lake. Planned improvements include installation of modernized HVAC systems, flooring, roofing, enhanced climate-control equipment, and updated medical supply storage.
  • Bishop Fire Ladder Truck - $1.21 million: This funding will help purchase a ladder truck for the Bishop Fire Department to improve firefighting capabilities for multi-story structures.
  • Water Infrastructure Improvement Project - $1.14 million: This funding will help replace an aged and failing water system in Tahoe City.
  • Mono County Emergency Backup Generators - $900,000: This funding will support the purchase and installation of emergency generators in communities across Mono County.
