Valdez, Alaska - Students from Prince William Sound College (PWSC) and Valdez High School (VHS) achieved outstanding success at the recent 2025 State Leadership and Skills Conference hosted by SkillsUSA Alaska. Under the guidance of Anthony Gerasch, PWSC Marine Technology instructor, and Isaac Deaton, Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher at VHS, students demonstrated exceptional technical skills, securing top placements and earning prestigious awards.
PWSC's Marine Services Technology Occupational Endorsement Certificate (OEC) program equips students with practical skills crucial for Alaska's industries, preparing them for high-demand careers that contribute significantly to the state's economy and infrastructure. Gerasch, a former SkillsUSA competitor himself, emphasizes real-world learning experiences and industry exposure, enhancing student preparedness and career opportunities.

Additionally, Anthony Gerasch was honored with the "Advisor of the Year" award for his exemplary leadership and dedication to student success. Winners received scholarships, high-quality tools from Snap-on and Milwaukee, merchandise from Trident and Echo, and Yamaha gift cards. First-place winners will advance to the SkillsUSA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, in June 2025.
