Martin Zamora, Republican candidate for New Mexico's Third Congressional District, today announced the launch of a new television advertisement, "New Mexico Deserves Better," spotlighting a pattern of self-interest by incumbent Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez. You can see the ad here: TV Ad The 30-second spot traces Leger Fernandez's record from her time as a registered New Mexico lobbyist through her tenure in Congress: For 18 years before taking office, Leger Fernandez was a registered lobbyist in New Mexico. In 2022, Leger Fernandez violated the federal STOCK Act, disclosing a stock trade more than a year after the law's 45-day deadline. From taking office in 2021 to 2024, Leger Fernandez's net worth grew nearly 60%. Last month, Leger Fernandez voted against H.R. 7008, the Stop Insider Trading Act, a bill to curb Congressional stock trading, which passed the House 232-198 with bipartisan support. "New Mexicans deserve a representative who plays by the same rules everyone else has to," said Martin Zamora. "Teresa Leger Fernandez spent nearly two decades as a lobbyist, and now she's spent five years in Congress treating disclosure laws like they're optional. When Congress had the chance to stop insider trading once and for all, she voted no. New Mexico deserves better."
