Daytime and Overnight Lane & Ramp Closures Scheduled on U.S. 101

Work to continue through October 30 between South San Francisco and East Palo Alto

San Mateo County ― Caltrans has scheduled intermittent ramp and lane closures of U.S. 101 in San Mateo County to allow crews to perform paving, guardrail, drainage, and electrical work. This phase of the work will continue through Friday, October 30 between South San Francisco and East Palo Alto.

Intermittent Nighttime Lane and Ramp Closures: (9 pm. - 5 a.m.) on the following weeknights

Northbound 101

  • Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 30

Southbound 101

  • Monday, October 5 through Friday, October 30

Intermittent Daytime Ramp Closures: (7 a.m. - 3 p.m.)

Partial ramp closures will continue within the project limits between South San Francisco and East Palo Alto so that crews can perform curb ramp upgrades.

Construction activities may generate noise during work hours, and nearby residents and businesses may experience temporary disruptions.

All work is weather dependent. Please drive with caution. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain our state's highways, bridges, and tunnels.

This work is part of the $177M U.S. 101 (San Mateo County) Multi-AssetRehabilitation & Roadside Safety Project. The project scope includes paving, guardrail improvements, transportation management system enhancements, drainage upgrades, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps. The project will bring operational improvements and promote economic vitality in the region. The project is funded by the State's Highway Operation and Protection Plan (SHOPP), a "fix-it-first" program that funds California highway repair and preservation.
