Portland, OR - One year ago today, Donald Trump signed H.R.1 - his Big Ugly Bill - into law, cutting Medicaid and slashing food assistance for thousands of Oregonians. In the year since, nearly 47,000 Oregonians have lost SNAP benefits, as many as 200,000 Oregonians are at risk of losing their health coverage, and the law is projected to strip $15 billion in federal funding from Oregon over the next six years.

Through it all, Christine Drazan has refused to stand up for Oregonians who are struggling with rising costs of food and health care:

When asked whether she would accept Trump's endorsement, Drazan left the door open.

When Oregon Democrats passed legislation to protect the state's budget from the Big Ugly Bill's worst damage, Drazan was part of the Republican caucus that fought against it.

When her own constituents needed her to show up and push back against cuts to their health care and food assistance, she couldn't be bothered to show up for more than one-third of the votes during this year's legislative session.

At a time when Oregon families are losing health coverage and food assistance because of Trump's recklessness, Drazan can't be counted on to stand up for them.

Meanwhile, Governor Kotek has fought back against Donald Trump at every turn, declaring a hunger emergency when Trump illegally cut SNAP benefits, directing $5 million to Oregon's food banks, and leading a multistate coalition to challenge Medicaid work requirements.

"Trump's Big Ugly Bill was a gut punch to Oregon families - and Christine Drazan can't even bring herself to say she opposes it," said Candy Emmons, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Oregon. "Oregonians deserve better than another politician that acts as a rubber stamp for Donald Trump's policies. Fortunately, Governor Kotek has fought back every step of the way. Oregonians deserve a governor who will stand up to Trump, not someone like Drazan who can't even bother to show up to work."
