Papua New Guinea-Dentons, the world's largest law firm, has strengthened its Australasian disputes capability with the promotion of Gertrude Tamade to Litigation Partner in its Papua New Guinea office.

Gertrude is a highly regarded senior litigation lawyer with more than 20 years' experience advising on complex commercial and civil matters. Her appointment enhances Dentons' ability to support clients navigating high-stakes disputes across the region.

Gertrude brings deep judicial and in-house experience. She was appointed by the Judicial Legal Services Commission as an Acting Judge of the National Courts of Papua New Guinea, where she served two terms from August 2021 to July 2023. During this time, she presided over commercial and civil matters. She has also held senior roles at Pacific Legal Group, LLNS, Barrick Niugini Limited and Corrs Chambers Westgarth. Gertrude holds a Master of Commercial Law from the University of Melbourne.

Dentons' Australia Chair and Australasia Region CEO, Warren Amber said, "Gertrude's elevation reflects our continued investment in senior disputes capability across Australasia. She brings a rare combination of judicial insight, private practice experience and commercial acumen. That perspective is invaluable for clients managing complex and sensitive matters."

Dentons Papua New Guinea Managing Partner and Head of Office, Wavie Kendino Leki said, "I am delighted to confirm Gertrude's promotion to Litigation Partner following the grant of her Unrestricted Practicing Certificate by the Papua New Guinea Law Society. We have already seen the strength of her leadership and judgement on the ground. She is a trusted adviser to clients and a valued leader within our team. Her appointment strengthens our offering in Papua New Guinea and supports our long-term growth in the region."

Commenting on her promotion, Gertrude Tamade said, "I am proud to join the Dentons partnership. The firm offers a strong platform to support clients on complex disputes while contributing to the continued development of the legal profession in Papua New Guinea. I look forward to working with colleagues across the region to deliver practical, high-quality outcomes for our clients."
