Two-Day Workshop on "Diplomatic Relevance of IHL for Diplomatic Staff"

On November 3, a two-day workshop entitled "Diplomatic Relevance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) for Diplomatic Staff" commenced at the Diplomatic School of Armenia. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Armenia.

At the opening, welcoming remarks were delivered by Karine Sujayan, Head of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, and Nicole Nasseh, Deputy Head of the ICRC Delegation in Armenia.

The main objective of the workshop is to study the operational framework of international humanitarian law and the ICRC mandate, as well as to highlight the importance of international humanitarian law for diplomatic personnel.

During the sessions, participants discussed current issues in international humanitarian law and international human rights law, with particular attention to Armenian initiatives and cooperation with the ICRC.

The workshop brought together experts in the field and staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
