On December 2, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria Yu Dunhai met with Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, H.E. Mohammed Abba Isa.
Ambassador Yu stated that China adheres to a people-centered development philosophy, attaches great importance to and vigorously supports the development of programs for persons with disabilities, and has accomplished the goals set in the 14th Five-Year Plan with high quality. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, new plans will be formulated for the safeguarding and development of persons with disabilities, setting the course of advancing the high-quality development of related programs. China attaches great importance to the China-Nigeria relations and will work with Nigeria to expand cooperation across various fields, including programs for persons with disabilities, and jointly build a China-Nigeria community with a shared future.
H.E. Mohammed Abba Isa stressed that China has set an example for other countries in safeguarding the rights and interests of persons with disabilities and promoting the integrated development of programs for persons with disabilities. Nigeria is willing to learn from China's experience and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in areas such as rehabilitation and medical services, vocational training and rights protection, to further enhance the well-being of persons with disabilities and jointly advance their equality and integrated development.
