Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) announced that she will be attending President Trump's State of the Union and that Daniel Dodd, a Clackamas Community College student, will be her guest. Daniel stood out for his outspokenness on how high costs are impacting him as a young person in Oregon. Earlier this year, Congresswoman Bynum announced her K-30agenda - a platform focused on supporting young Americans by strengthening our education system, ensuring a strong job market, and lowering the cost of housing.
"I can't win the battle for Oregon by staying home - so tomorrow I'll show up, look the President in the eye, call out his nonsense, and demand he start taking his job seriously," said Rep Bynum. "It's his duty to look out for the best interests of all Americans, but our country is letting young Americans fall behind. That's why I'm bringing Daniel, a Clackamas Community College student, as my guest to show the President, and the country, what we should all be fighting for: lower costs and more opportunity."
"I'm very excited to be attending the State of the Union Address with Congresswoman Bynum," said Daniel."She directly supports me-a young person in college striving to succeed in this world. I'm grateful for this opportunity to represent myself, but also the young people of Oregon at this prestigious event."
In January, in an effort to confront the rising economic pressures on young Americans, U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-OR) launched her signature "K-30" agenda- a platform focused on supporting young Americans by improving access to education, housing, and the job market.
