FM Names Johnell Holly and James O’Brien to Leadership Roles in Key Growth Areas

JOHNSTON, R.I., USA, Dec. 11, 2025 - Commercial property insurer FM today announced the appointment of Johnell Holly and James O'Brien to new roles to lead two key areas of growth for the company.

Holly has been appointed executive vice president, United States and Latin America operations, and O'Brien is now executive vice president, specialty business. Holly and O'Brien will both report to Randy Hodge, chief operating officer of FM.

Johnell Holly

In his new role, Holly will oversee FM's United States and Latin America operations. In the United States, which remains a key market for FM, the company works with one of every four Fortune 500 companies. Holly joined FM in 2001 as a consultant engineer and has held various leadership roles in sales, client service and operations. He most recently served as senior vice president, global client service, sales and marketing. He will retain his responsibilities for leading broker relations and sales. Prior to joining FM, Holly served seven years in the U.S. Army, concluding his military career with the U.S. Special Forces Command.

Holly earned a bachelor's degree in computer science/systems engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is currently chair of the board of the Spencer Educational Foundation.

James O'Brien

O'Brien will have responsibility for FM's expanding specialty business, which includes several new, key offerings for FM. In the new role, he will oversee FM Intellium, FM Solutions, Velocity Specialty Insurance Company (VSIC), FM Boiler Re, FM Cargo operations, Chemical Operations, Forest Products and FM Renewable Energy.

FM launched FM Intellium this year to help businesses seize the opportunities of technological advancement, from artificial intelligence to cloud computing to the power generation needs these innovations require. Moreover, earlier this year FM acquired VSIC, a leading excess & surplus (E&S) insurance provider, and it recently announced the formation of FM Solutions, a new business unit that provides clients with easier access to several of FM's unique, non-traditional resilience-focused capabilities.

O'Brien joined FM in 1989 as a loss-prevention engineering consultant. He most recently served as senior vice president, Canada and specialty industries. O'Brien earned a Bachelor of Arts in engineering physics from Loras College and a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Northern Illinois University.

"With their many years of driving strong results for our clients and FM, Johnell and Jim bring extensive leadership and operational experience to these key roles," said Hodge. "I am excited to see what they will accomplish with their new responsibilities."
