Financial Help After the Disaster

Money is available for basic home repair, rental of temporary housing and other uninsured expenses resulting from the severe storms and flooding in December 2025. If you had losses, regardless of income, file your insurance claim first, then apply to FEMA.

FEMA Assistance May Help Pay for:

• Immediate needs such as water, food, first aid, prescriptions and other needs.
• Temporary housing if you are displaced from your home because of the disaster.
• Hotel stays or other temporary lodging.
• Basic repairs to your home caused by disaster damage.
• Repairing or replacing appliances, furnishings, a personal or family computer damaged by the disaster, books, uniforms, tools, additional computers and other items required for school or work, including self-employment.
• Medical and dental expenses because the disaster caused an injury or illness.
• Funeral or reburial expenses caused by the disaster.
• Increased or new childcare expenses caused by the disaster.
• Repairing or replacing a vehicle damaged by the disaster.
• Moving or storing personal property from your home to prevent additional damage.
• Repairs to ensure the home is accessible for residents with disabilities.
• Repairing a privately owned road or bridge that provides the only access to the home.

  • The telephone line is open every day and help is available in most languages. If you use a relay service, such as Video Relay Service (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA your number for that service.

The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is June 10, 2026.
