Family medicine physician brings the best in primary care to Hoag’s new Laguna Hills location

With the opening date of its newest location in Laguna Hills quickly approaching, Hoag is excited to welcome talented physicians who share its passion for access to exceptional whole-person care closer to home. One of them is Peter J. Azzam, MD, a family medicine practitioner dedicated to providing care to the community he loves.

Below, he shares what led him to Hoag, and the innovative approaches to lifelong well-being that the people of Laguna Hills can expect from this latest expansion:

What inspired you to join Hoag and be part of this new Laguna Hills location?
I completed my residency in Orange County, and I'm excited to join a group that balances care, excellence and innovation as well as Hoag Medical Group does. Specifically, I am excited to join the Laguna Hills office in the primary care department. My wife and I love being near the beach and have fallen in love with the geographic area.

What new approaches to treatment are you excited to bring to the Laguna Hills community?
I am excited to bring my background in whole-person care, which I developed as a student at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, as well as my training in comprehensive family medicine. I am very technologically innovative and enjoy using technology to provide more efficient care. I also have a strong interest in integrative approaches to treatment and broadening the treatment options I can provide to my patients.

How do you see this location meeting the specific needs of the community?
This location will establish a primary care presence that is also linked to an obstetrics and gynecology team, allowing a strong interplay between these two specialties and expanding care to include the entire family.

How would you describe your approach to patient care?
In patient care, I strive to balance efficiency with excellent listening skills and empathy to help patients work through their concerns and restore optimal health.

What do you find most rewarding about being part of people's health journeys?
I find helping patients lead fulfilling lives to be the most rewarding part of the job. I love hearing stories about how our hard work impacts the lives of our patients in such a positive way.

Can you describe what sets Hoag primary care apart from others?

Hoag primary care is particularly unique in that it allows patients to obtain quality care from a broad and well-established network of providers and care team members. Hoag's facilities are state-of-the-art, and patients can expect the very best.

What are you most excited for patients to experience when they walk through the doors?
I am most excited for patients to experience the fresh feeling of being in an innovative office setting that is high quality and efficient.

Make an appointment with Dr. Azzam.
