Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 26th anniversary of the passing of Yiannos Kranidiotis (14.09.2025)
Today marks 26 years since the tragic loss of Yiannos Kranidiotis.
A distinguished academic, a visionary politician, and a conscientious diplomat, Yiannos Kranidiotis served Greece with dedication and prudence. Moreover, as a staunch supporter of the European integration and an architect of the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union, Yiannos Kranidiotis remains a point of reference for Greek foreign policy.
His work and diplomatic legacy remain valuable assets for Greece and Cyprus as they continue their coordinated efforts for a just and viable solution to the Cyprus Issue, as well as for effectively addressing regional and global challenges.
