KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University was awarded a $40,000 grant from the Shapiro Administration and the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the It's On Us PA program in 2026. 43 Pennsylvania colleges and universities received grants this year, including Kutztown University, totaling more than $1.7 million. These grants are used to help combat sexual assault on campus.
Kutztown University's Women's Center is a champion of sexual violence prevention for the campus community and works closely with many departments to educate, empower and support students alongside the It's On Us PA campaign. The grant funding will support ongoing partnerships with Safe Berks, New Student Orientation, Multicultural Services, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Greek Life's Hazing prevention training, Title IX awareness programs and bystander intervention training.
The grant will also allow a new opportunity to partner with the College of Business during the annual Entrepreneurship Week and will support the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Self-Defense program, which provides an invaluable resource for students to learn risk awareness, reduction and avoidance strategies, and learn physical self-defensive techniques to expand one's options for safety.
The national It's On Us campaign was created by the Obama Administration to raise awareness about sexual assault, teach participants that assault includes non-consensual sex, advise them on how to identify dangerous situations, empower them to intervene and urge them to create an environment of support for victims and survivors.
It's On Us PA is a statewide campaign that invites education leaders and all Pennsylvanians to be part of the solution to protect students from sexual violence.
