Honoring Alderman Alton Hallett’s Service to West Chicago

After more than a decade of dedicated public service, Alton "Spence" Hallett has resigned from the West Chicago City Council as of December 31, 2025. Since first being elected in 2013, Alderman Hallett has represented Ward 3 with a steady, thoughtful approach to local governance and deep sense of civic responsibility rooted in service.

During his tenure, Alderman Hallett served on the Infrastructure Committee and the Public Affairs Committee, contributing to policy discussions and decisions that supported City services, facilities, and community priorities. He was known for his thoughtful engagement and his focus on long-term outcomes that benefit the community as a whole.

Beyond his role on the City Council, Alderman Hallett volunteered with the West Chicago Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), demonstrating a hands-on commitment to public safety and emergency preparedness.

A longtime resident of West Chicago, Alderman Hallett and his wife, Cindy, have lived in the community since 1976. He is an Air Force veteran and has remained actively involved in service-oriented organizations throughout his life, reflecting a deep-rooted dedication to giving back.

Next Steps for the Ward 3 Aldermanic Seat

Under City procedures, the Mayor has the authority to appoint an individual to fill the Ward 3 aldermanic vacancy, with the advice and consent of the City Council. The appointed Alderman will serve in this role until the next municipal election, which will be held in 2027.
