As the daughter of a U.S. Congressman and raised in an Italian-American family, Speaker Pelosi fully appreciated and always acted upon her obligation to give back to her community and country that gave her and her family so much opportunity. With that foundation, Speaker Pelosi not only excelled as a public servant, but also became the most powerful Speaker in modern history. She embraced the authorities of Article One of our Constitution and ensured that Congress not only acted as a proper check and balance, but also worked to legislate landmark bills to provide affordable healthcare, get us through the pandemic, play our part in the climate crisis, further equal rights, reduce gun violence, and more as she fulfilled her unwavering commitment to future generations.
