Resilience of Hope
Last week, I was honored to join advocates, health care providers, researchers and community leaders at the Resilience of Hope Symposium in San Francisco. Together, we reflected on the extraordinary progress made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, remembered those we have lost and renewed our commitment to the work that remains. The courage of patients, activists, scientists and caregivers has transformed what was once an unimaginable crisis into a story of perseverance, innovation and hope.

For decades, I have been proud to stand with the HIV/AIDS community in the fight for dignity, justice and lifesaving care. As new challenges threaten access to prevention, treatment and research, we must continue investing in the programs that have saved millions of lives and recommit ourselves to banishing HIV/AIDS to the dustbin of history once and for all.

Enduring Alliance
It was my pleasure to welcome Speaker of the UK House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, to Capitol Hill this week as we reaffirmed the enduring friendship between the United States and the United Kingdom. Our discussion underscored the importance of strengthening the bonds between Congress and Parliament and advancing our shared commitment to democracy, security and the rule of law.

For generations, our Special Relationship has helped safeguard freedom and promote stability around the world. As democracies face new challenges, it is more important than ever that we continue to work together in defense of our shared values, supporting one another in the pursuit of peace, prosperity and opportunity for future generations.

Protecting Consumers
This week marked the 16th anniversary of President Obama's signing of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act into law-landmark legislation that restored transparency, accountability and stability to our financial system after the devastating 2008 financial crisis. It was a privilege to work alongside President Obama, Chairman Barney Frank and so many dedicated Members to enact the strongest consumer financial protections in our nation's history.

Dodd-Frank reaffirmed a simple principle: our economy must work for working families, not just for those at the top. As new efforts seek to weaken the safeguards that protect consumers and preserve confidence in our financial markets, we must remain steadfast in defending the progress we achieved and ensuring that accountability remains at the heart of our financial system.

Standing with Taiwan
It was a pleasure to welcome Chih-Chang Tsai and members of Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party to Capitol Hill to discuss the challenges facing Taiwan. Our conversation reaffirmed our shared commitment to democracy, security and the values that unite free societies around the world.

For decades, the relationship between the United States and Taiwan has been grounded in our mutual respect for democratic governance, the rule of law and the aspirations of people to determine their own future. As Taiwan continues to face increasing pressure, America must remain steadfast in supporting our democratic partners and standing with all who value freedom, peace and security.
