As employers nationwide confront labor shortages and a wave of retirements, Albany County is charting a different course, investing in experience and proving that a multigenerational workforce is one of government's greatest strengths. County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today announced that Albany County has been designated a Certified Age-Friendly Employer™ by The Age-Friendly Institute, a national organization that evaluates and recognizes employers committed to supporting workers of all ages.

The certification follows a detailed review of the County's workplace policies and practices, including responses to the Institute's evaluation standards, analysis of publicly available information, and comparison to national benchmarks. This distinction is reviewed every two years to ensure certified employers continue to meet established standards.

"Albany County is proud to receive this recognition. We believe experience matters. We believe opportunity should never be limited by age. And we believe that when you bring together people at different stages of their careers, you build a stronger organization and deliver better service to the public," said County Executive Daniel P. McCoy.

By earning this certification, Albany County joins a select group of employers nationwide that have demonstrated a commitment to age-inclusive policies, multigenerational workforce engagement, and long-term employee support. The County has received its official certification materials, including its certificate and program seal, which will be incorporated into recruitment and outreach efforts going forward.
