14 February 2026, Munich - On the occasion of his participation in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a series of meetings with his counterparts from Ireland, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Serbia-Helen McEntee, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Petr Macinka and Marko Đurić-as well as with the State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office, Géza Andreas von Geyr, and the Bavarian State Minister for European Affairs and International Relations, Eric Beißwenger. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, regional security, the Republic of Moldova's European path, and expanding economic relations.
In his meeting with Ireland's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence, Helen McEntee, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi extended an invitation to pay an official visit to Chișinău on the occasion of the inauguration of Ireland's Embassy in the Republic of Moldova. He expressed appreciation for Ireland's support in the EU accession process and voiced interest in intensifying cooperation, including in view of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2026. The parties also discussed advancing negotiations on bilateral agreements on the recognition of driving licences and on social protection, as well as organising political consultations.
During the meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the importance of political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest was underlined, in the context of regional challenges and the Republic of Moldova's European path. Mihai Popșoi highlighted priority areas for cooperation with Denmark, including investment in agriculture, cyber security, renewable energy, waste management, education, robotics and tourism infrastructure. He welcomed Denmark's development assistance, including support for Moldova's EU accession efforts and for strengthening cyber security.
The dialogue with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka, reaffirmed the positive momentum of Moldova-Czech relations, grounded in shared European values and steady cooperation. Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Czech Republic in strengthening the Republic of Moldova's resilience in the context of current regional challenges, as well as for the firm support for our European path.
In discussions with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, the current state of Moldova-Serbia relations was reviewed and opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation were explored, with a focus on political and economic areas as well as strengthening the bilateral legal framework. The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments, the European security context, and the European integration paths of both countries.
In his meetings with the State Secretary of the German Federal Foreign Office, Géza Andreas von Geyr, and the Bavarian State Minister for European Affairs and International Relations, Eric Beißwenger, Mihai Popșoi expressed appreciation for Germany's continued support for the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process. Interest was noted in expanding cooperation with Germany's federal states. He also thanked Germany for ongoing development cooperation projects and invited German companies in advanced technologies to tap into the Republic of Moldova's innovation and technological development potential.
