SUKABUMI - The Sukabumi Regency Board of the Indonesian Employers' Association (DPK APINDO) is actively tracing the identity of the uploader of a viral social media video alleging illegal fees for gaining employment at a major factory in Cikembar District.
APINDO Sukabumi Chairman, Sudarno Rais, said the investigation is crucial before taking further action, including the possibility of legal assistance and medical support for the alleged victim.
Since the video began circulating, APINDO has been coordinating with the Sukabumi Manpower Office (Disnaker) and the company's public relations department to verify the authenticity of the claims.
"Since yesterday, we have been in communication and coordination with the company's PR department and the head of the Sukabumi Manpower Office to track down and confirm the official identity of the former employee (victim) mentioned in the viral video," Sudarno told detikJabar on Wednesday (Sept. 10, 2025).
According to him, APINDO needs complete data before taking further steps. The information sought includes the victim's and her husband's names, work division, home address, and a full chronology of the incident.
"If the report is confirmed and we have obtained the identity and address, we will immediately take steps to provide the best solution, including proper medical treatment and reimbursement of any proven financial losses," he explained.
As of now, APINDO has not yet obtained full data on the victim or the video uploader's family. Sudarno said that the information available is still very limited.
"To this day, we still do not have the victim's official identity and complete address. So far, I have only received information about the subdistrict and village but without official data. We have also tried to contact the account owner, but have not received a response," he said.
Sudarno stressed that once the official identity and address of the victim are obtained, APINDO is ready to provide full support.
"In principle, once the identity is confirmed, we are ready to provide free legal assistance if the extortion allegation proceeds to court, as well as medical support to help the victim recover," he asserted.
He added that this effort is important to ensure clarity for all parties involved and to safeguard the reputation of the business community in Sukabumi Regency.
"We want this case to be handled thoroughly and transparently so that the reputation of local businesses and industries is not tarnished by the actions of syndicates exploiting the recruitment process," Sudarno said.
He also reminded the public, especially job seekers and their families, not to fall victim to brokers or individuals offering jobs in exchange for payment.
"We urge the public not to be deceived by middlemen or anyone promising jobs in return for money. If such incidents occur, they should report them to law enforcement or inform APINDO Sukabumi so we can follow up with the company and authorities," he added.
"Hopefully, this will be the last such incident," Sudarno concluded.
