The Attorney General's Office announced that Joseph Berg, 25, of Lincoln, Vermont, was arraigned today on three felony counts of failing to comply with sex offender registry obligations as outlined in 13 V.S.A § 5407(a). The charges brought against Mr. Berg are the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Vermont State Police, New Haven Barracks.
Mr. Berg pleaded not guilty at the arraignment today in Vermont Superior Court, Addison Criminal Division. Mr. Berg is currently being held without bail on an alleged violation of probation relating, in part, to this case.
The Attorney General's Office emphasizes that individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
