OU establishes Glenn McIntosh 'Passion, Purpose and Perseverance' Leadership Award to honor transformational, student-centered leadership
Oakland University has established the Glenn McIntosh "Passion, Purpose and Perseverance" Leadership Award to recognize OU employees who demonstrate exceptional leadership in advancing student success, strengthening the campus community, and embodying the compassionate, principled leadership exemplified by the late Glenn McIntosh, senior vice president for Student Affairs and Chief Diversity Officer.
McIntosh served Oakland University for more than 30 years as a visionary leader known for his integrity, empathy, and unwavering commitment to students. His leadership was transformational and marked not by titles or authority, but by his ability to inspire, empower, and lift others to their highest potential. He was a "glue leader," someone who built unity, fostered collaboration and guided the community forward through his example, wisdom and love for students.
This award honors a faculty or staff member whose leadership reflects those same qualities and continues the legacy of McIntosh's extraordinary impact. Nominees should demonstrate excellence in all or most of the following leadership characteristics:
Student-Centered Leadership
Transformational Leadership Style
Compassionate Leadership
Community-Building and Collaborative Leadership
Inspirational Influence and Servant Leadership
