TechNet Statement on the Introduction of the Connected Vehicle Security Act

Washington, D.C. - TechNet, the national, bipartisan network of tech CEOs and senior executives, today released the following statement from President and CEO Linda Moore in response to the introduction of the Connected Vehicle Security Act:

"TechNet shares Senators Moreno and Slotkin's commitment to strengthening American national security and protecting connected vehicle technologies from foreign adversary threats. As Congress considers vehicle safety legislation, it is essential that any approach be targeted and risk-based, strengthening U.S. security without inhibiting the ability of American companies to lead the future of mobility.

"The Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security has already undertaken a rigorous process to address national security risks in connected vehicle technologies, including risks posed by foreign adversaries. Congress should work closely with the Department of Commerce and other relevant agencies to ensure any legislative action complements existing efforts and advances a clear, coordinated federal approach.
