President Vahagn Khachaturyan sent a message of condolence to the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, on the passing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.
"I was saddened to learn about the passing of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, which is a great loss for the fraternal Georgian people.
At this difficult moment, I extend my sincere condolences and support to the statesmen of Georgia, the clergy, and the faithful people.
Ilia II was a unique symbol of the strength of faith, as well as the unity and solidarity of his people. His activities were always aimed at strengthening Georgia's statehood and establishing peace, interreligious, and interethnic tolerance in the region.
The bright memory of Ilia II and the spiritual legacy he left behind will continue to inspire future generations to serve the noble ideals of humanity and Christianity," the message reads.
