The OBL Bank Management School is one of the OBL's premier leadership and professional development programs, offering participants a deeper understanding of how banks operate and make strategic decisions every day. While many employees naturally focus on their individual roles or departments, this program broadens perspectives by helping students understand how each area of the bank contributes to overall success.
For banks navigating workforce transitions, onboarding employees new to banking, or preparing future leaders, the program helps bridge knowledge gaps and build a stronger foundation of industry understanding.
Throughout the week, participants are placed into teams to manage a bank through eight decision periods using the BankSim platform before concluding with a shareholder meeting to evaluate performance and strategy. Students see firsthand, in real time, how decisions impact profitability, liquidity, growth, and overall bank performance.
In addition to the hands-on simulation, participants will explore key topics shaping bank management, including:
Asset Liability & Liquidity Management
Explore asset-liability management (ALM), liquidity management, and interest rate risk.
Bank Investments
Examine how investment portfolios support earnings, liquidity, borrowing, and capital management.
CEO & CFO Community
Hear directly from bank CEOs and CFOs during dedicated panel discussions focused on current challenges, leadership, and decision-making.
Peer Analysis Tools for Banks
Learn how peer analysis and benchmarking tools help banks evaluate performance, identify market trends, and better understand competitors.
Current Market for Ohio Bankers
Gain insight into economic conditions, where the market may be heading, and what it means for banking in Ohio.
The Emerging Consumer
Explore demographic shifts, delivery technology trends, and strategies for aligning products, services, and channels with evolving consumer expectations.
Financial Management Essentials
Build understanding of core financial management concepts and key banking financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flow.
Career Development
Focus on professional growth, succession planning, and leadership development while gaining practical insight into career advancement and managing others.
Whether you are looking to broaden your own understanding of banking or identify an employee who would benefit from a deeper, enterprise-wide perspective, the OBL Bank Management School is an investment in long-term success. Participants consistently leave the program with broader industry knowledge, stronger connections, and overwhelmingly positive feedback about their experience.
