Today, President Trump called on the House to pass Senator Reverend Warnock's ban on large corporations' mass purchasing single-family homes, denying first-time homebuyers access to homeownership
The Warnock private equity ban was included in the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, which passed the Senate 89-10
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) released the following statement after President Trump again called on the House to pass Senator Warnock's ban on large corporations' mass purchasing single-family homes, denying first-time homebuyers access to homeownership. Georgia's housing market is suffocated by private equity, with more than one in four single-family rental homes in metro Atlanta owned by large corporations. The American people believe homes should be for people, not corporations-recent polling shows 73% of Americans want to ban Wall Street from owning single-family homes.
"Private equity's greed is squeezing first-time homebuyers out of the market and pushing the American Dream further out of reach. I welcome anyone who wants to join my fight to finally ban private equity from mass-purchasing single-family homes. The Senate passed my ban 89-10, let's get this signed into law this week!"
