Juneteenth Family Day at New Location – Goodyear High School

City of Goodyear Hosts Juneteenth Family Day at New Location - Goodyear High School - June 19 from 6-10 p.m.

Goodyear High School is the new location for the city of Goodyear Juneteenth Family Day event. The free event will be at the high school, located at 17300 W. Van Buren Street in Goodyear, on Friday, June 19 from 6 to 10 p.m.

This year's theme, "Homecoming," draws inspiration from the traditions, pride and spirit of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), creating a family-friendly experience that celebrates freedom, heritage and community connections.

Guests can explore a variety of HBCU-inspired experiences throughout the evening, including themed photo opportunities, a mock homecoming parade float, a featured HBCU logo installation and an interactive map where alumni and future students can share their HBCU connections and aspirations.

The event will also feature five large-scale Juneteenth murals displayed in the "Art on the Yard" area, creating vibrant community art installations and memorable photo opportunities.

Families can enjoy an exciting lineup of live entertainment throughout the evening, including performances by Outside the Line, Thrive City Church, the Hollywood Bratz Majorette Dance Team, the 40+ Double Dutch Club and a live marching band performing hourly, culminating in a halftime-style showcase.

Interactive workshops and activities will offer something for all ages, with opportunities to participate in majorette dance lessons, African drumming, line dancing, financial empowerment workshops, family tree activities, storytime, Afroletics and children's crafts.

In recognition of Father's Day weekend, kids can create personalized Father's Day cards onsite, and the first 500 dads in attendance will receive a commemorative event pin.

There will also be more than a dozen artisan vendors and local food trucks.
