Tajani and Panetta inaugurate the 16th MAECI–Bank of Italy Conference

The 16th MAECI-Bank of Italy Conference took place today at the Farnesina, inaugurated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, and the Governor of the Bank of Italy, Fabio Panetta.

The event brought together officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bank of Italy, experts from other government departments and representatives of key Italian institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), SACE, SIMEST, ABI, INVASS, Confindustria, energy sector companies and banking institutions.

The Farnesina and Palazzo Koch collaborate to support Italian businesses through the activities of Italy's diplomatic, consular and cultural network abroad, which also includes Bank of Italy Financial Attachés posted overseas. The contribution of these officials, covering a total of 52 countries, is vital for monitoring and understanding global economic-financial trends.

This year's Conference, entitled "A turbulent world: political crises, trade tensions and economic-financial shocks. What strategies for strengthening Italy's exports and economic security?", takes place in a complex international context, characterised by trade tensions and shocks arising from conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

The Conference was structured in two thematic sessions. The first, "Economic-financial cooperation in a multipolar world", focused on reforms, the strengthening of the Single Market and competitiveness, and the evolution of debt in developing countries. The second, "Market diversification, supply security and export resilience", examined new export strategies in light of EU trade agreements and promoted the resilience of critical raw material supply chains.
