Don’t Let Dust Trigger Danger: Clean Your Smoke Detector

Gilbert, Ariz - Fall temperatures and rainy weather make the perfect time to cozy up indoors. If you are thinking of turning on your heater, remember to check and clean your smoke detectors. By starting your heater, it can kick up dust from the months it was not used causing the dust to trigger your smoke alarm.

Don't let dust and cobwebs keep your smoke alarms from working properly. A quick clean can prevent false alarms and keep your home safe.

Cleaning Your Smoke Detectors

  • Remove smoke detector from the ceiling or wall.

  • Unplug the power cord.

  • Remove the batteries.

  • Gently spray the smoke detector with canned air.

  • Wipe smoke detector with a rag.

  • Replace the batteries.

  • Plug in power cord and place the smoke detector back on the ceiling or wall.
