SW 16th Street Stormwater Improvements Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries are making improvements to the stormwater system along SW 16th Street east of Riverland Road in Flamingo Park. The work includes:

  • Installing a new 12-inch diameter stormwater pipe
  • Restoring a stormwater catch basin within a driveway near the end of the cul-de-sac
  • Restoring impacted asphalt and landscaping

Construction will begin on Monday, April 13, 2026, and is expected to be completed by Friday, April 24, 2026. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

  • The westbound lane of SW 16th Street east of Riverland Road may be closed daily during work hours.
  • Traffic control personnel will direct traffic near the work area during work hours.
  • Access to driveways will be maintained during construction.
  • Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
