Republic of Moldova takes part in the OSCE Ministerial Council at Vienna

4 December 2025, Vienna - State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Valeriu Mija, is leading the delegation of the Republic of Moldova at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council. The event is taking place in Vienna from 4-5 December 2025.

This year's edition holds particular significance, marking 50 years since the signing of the Helsinki Final Act, a fundamental document for European security and for the principles governing relations among participating States.

Discussions are focused on the regional security situation, in particular Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as on the need to strengthen a rules-based international order and to adapt the OSCE to new geopolitical realities.

The Finnish OSCE Chairpersonship encouraged delegations to address issues related to compliance with common commitments, responses to current challenges, and preparing the organization for the future.

In his statement, Valeriu Mija reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova's support for the role of the OSCE in ensuring regional stability and reiterated the country's strong condemnation of the Russian Federation's military aggression against Ukraine. The State Secretary also emphasized Moldova's commitment to the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with full respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

The official reiterated the need for the withdrawal of Russian troops illegally stationed on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, as well as for the evacuation and destruction of ammunition, in line with the commitments undertaken at the OSCE Istanbul Summit (1999) and UN General Assembly Resolution 72/282 (2018).

On the margins of the meeting, the State Secretary participated as a speaker at the thematic conference "Promoting Integrity Across All Dimensions: An OSCE Dialogue on Combating Corruption," where he presented the Republic of Moldova's progress in the areas of judicial reform, anti-corruption efforts, and strengthening the rule of law, achieved with the support of the OSCE and international partners.
