OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann to visit Finland

Secretary-General of the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Mathias Cormann will visit Finland from 11 to 12 March. During the visit, he will meet Finland's political leaders and attend a consultation event preceding the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting.

Finland will chair the 2026 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) after a break of over 40 years. The MCM will take place in Paris on 3-4 June. It will focus on industrial policies that support the renewal of industries, open markets, sustainable economic growth and broader societal wellbeing.

In Helsinki, Secretary-General Cormann will attend a consultation event, which is customarily held prior to the MCM. At the consultations, the MCM's key themes will be discussed with Business at OECD (BIAC) and the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC). Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will represent Finland at the event.

While in Helsinki, the Secretary-General will also have bilateral meetings with President of the Republic Alexander Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen, Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen and senior public officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

The OECD promotes multilateral solutions to global challenges. Finland utilises the OECD's research data and analyses broadly for policy planning in different sectors.
