Eli Mikkelsen, son of WWU staff member Gena Mikkelsen, begins work on his latest masterpiece at the CDC.

WWU's Child Development Center is thrilled to announce expanded programming and increased capacity at the university's on-site childcare center, which serves the children of currently enrolled students and university employees. Historically, the CDC has operated with a waitlist for available spots, but with two new classrooms and over 20 new spots, there is still availability for the current academic year. Apply today!

Balancing academics or work with childcare can be one of the greatest challenges for student and employee parents alike. Having a high-quality, convenient, on-campus childcare option helps reduce stress, eases daily logistics, and allows parents to focus on their goals, knowing their child is cared for in a nurturing environment just steps away.

What's New This Year

Based on the needs expressed by the current families we serve, we've added two additional classrooms to provide care for a new age group of children from 12 months to 2 years. This is in addition to our previous 4 classrooms serving children ages 2 to 5 years.

The Center at a Glance

  • Who we serve: Children of currently enrolled WWU students and employees, ages 12 months to 5 years of age (by Aug. 31)
  • Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 pm.
  • Center capacity: 87 full-time slots (with some shared part-time slots available)
  • Tuition & aid: Competitive rates, with sliding scale options for student parents.
  • Philosophy: To provide a safe and healthy environment for young children, supporting the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth of each child.
  • The CDC is a participant of the State's Early Achiever's Quality Rating and Improvement program.

Limited spots are still available in all classrooms, except for two-year-olds. We encourage interested families to apply today.
