Building global momentum for Alberta tech

Minister Glubish will join tech leaders, major companies, public institutions and investors at VivaTech 2026, one of the largest startup and tech events in the world.

Minister Glubish will hold a bilateral meeting with Ms. Dorothée Bär, German federal minister for Research, Technology and Space, to explore opportunities for transatlantic collaboration in digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

"No government in Canada has adopted AI faster than Alberta. We have saved tens of millions of dollars and our services are getting better, faster and smarter because of it. Now we are building on that lead: Amii gives us world-class research capacity, and our push to become the computing capital of Canada will put state-of-the-art, sovereign AI infrastructure within reach of every government, academic, business and citizen. That is the Alberta story, and I am taking it to the world stage at VivaTech."

Minister Glubish will deliver a keynote speech focusing on how Alberta is fast becoming the preferred destination for AI data centre investment in North America. Alberta's energy capacity, cold climate, modernized privacy framework and growing AI ecosystem create the ideal environment for such investments to thrive. Minister Glubish will also discuss how Alberta is leading Canada in AI adoption in the public service, and highlight case studies where Alberta has saved tens of millions of taxpayer dollars with AI tools and technologies.

Alberta's government is committed to working with its national and international partners to advance shared interests that can lead to new opportunities for people and businesses in Alberta and around the world.

• Alberta's AI Data Centre Strategy, "Powering the Future of Artificial Intelligence," outlines how Alberta will attract AI data centre investment and development.
• Alberta has more than one gigawatt of AI data centre capacity in the pipeline, with major projects underway or proposed across the province.
• Alberta is home to the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), one of three national Canadian AI centres of excellence and recognized globally as one of the top five AI research institutes.
• The University of Alberta ranked No. 1 in Canada for AI in the U.S. News 2025-26 Best Global Universities Rankings.
