Matchbook Romance has revealed plans to celebrate 20 years of their landmark sophomore album 'VOICES' with a digital deluxe re-issue available on February 13th. Originally released in 2006 via Epitaph, the anniversary edition includes two new tracks whose bones were built during initial recording sessions. Recently revisited and completed by the band, the first of two singles arrives today with "Something Worse Than the Night" delivering the signature intensity that made the band a post-emo touchstone.

The band shares a collective statement reflecting on the occasion: "As the 20th anniversary of VOICES approached, we wanted to honor the album while also sharing something new. There were two songs we began recording during those Long View Farm sessions, but they were never finished. Nearly two decades later, in the summer of 2025, we completed those two tracks alongside John Goodmanson at Robert Lang studios in Seattle, WA.
Today, we're releasing the first of those two songs. "Something Worse Than the Night" is out everywhere now! Thank you for singing along, for keeping the music alive, and for celebrating VOICES with us… 20 years later."
VOICES, the incredible second effort from Matchbook Romance, is a highly refined, technically brilliant album that strikes a great balance of beauty and darkness on an entirely new level of creativity for this band. A true study in contrast, VOICES finds Andrew Jordan's vocals soaring on high, as well as floating amongst the myriad rhythms provided by Ryan DePaolo's finely woven webs of melodic strings, Aaron Stern's pounding drums and Ryan Kienle's guiding bass lines.
