HAMMOND- The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Indiana has chosen FBI Staff Operations Specialist Susan Graff as our "Hometown Hero." She was nominated by Assistant United States Attorney Caitlin Padula and selected by U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred.
The "Hometown Hero" award honors the enduring ideals of Liberty, Service, and Civic Responsibility. The award is dedicated in recognition of a steadfast commitment to these ideals and an embodiment of the spirit upon which our Nation was founded.

"Susan Graff has served the Federal Bureau of Investigation and our mission for over thirty years," said U.S. Attorney Adam L. Mildred. "Susan is currently assigned to the Indianapolis Division-Merrillville RA. She is a team player with a unique skillset. She has identified robbery suspects through significant social media research, she utilized social media to identify additional subjects and locations, including locations in other countries based on analysis of backgrounds in social media photos. She provides invaluable support during investigations by monitoring communications to give real time information to the TFOs and SAs. Sue has developed an extensive network over her long career and on countless occasions was able to leverage her contacts at other FBI field offices, the FBI laboratory, and other law enforcement agencies to further investigations and avoid lengthy delays."
Also known as "Super Sue," she quietly provides critical tactical support in social media and has helped crack many cases by her professional thoughtful analysis.
According to Sue's supervisor, Special Agent Craig W. Schulte, "it's hard to understate her value to the team. Her work has helped crack cases wide open. She is super keen and provides an invaluable, behind-the-scenes service and support that help the agents to do their work."
Assistant United States Attorney Cailtin Padula said, "her work has been absolutely crucial to solving crimes in this district. She has been instrumental in reviewing social media, location data, jail calls and so much more across a wide range of cases. Her work is critical to the team effort of fighting crime here in the Northern District and we are all lucky to work with her."
