Goodman Pool Opening Day Celebration Moved to 1:00pm Friday, June 12

Due to Thursday's predicted weather, opening day festivities for Goodman Pool are rescheduled for Friday, June 12 at 1:00pm. Thanks to the generosity of Goodman's Jewelers, the first 500 kids will receive free admission beginning at 1:00pm. Honoring the legacy of Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman, John and Catherine Hayes, owners of Goodman's Jewelers continue the long-standing tradition of sponsoring opening-day admission for the first 500 children.

"Goodman Pool has always been about bringing families together and creating lasting memories," said John Hayes, owner of Goodman's Jewelers. "We're honored to continue the tradition of sponsoring free admission for the first 500 kids on opening day and look forward to celebrating on Friday."

The Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Pool is named in honor of the long-time community leaders and philanthropists whose $2.8 million gift helped launch the project. Their generosity inspired additional community support, enabling the City and Madison Parks Foundation to raise the funds needed to complete the project and open the pool in 2006. Look for festivities celebrating the 20-year anniversary later this summer.

As for Thursday, June 11, Goodman Pool is expected to open at 12:00pm, one hour earlier than its regular schedule, weather-permitting. Weather-related updates will be posted on GoodmanPool.com. Staff will be available beginning at 12:00pm to assist guests who need to complete a pool waiver or have their photo taken.

Goodman Pool is a place for everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. Thanks to the Madison Parks Foundation, reduced-fee season passes are available for qualifying Madison residents. Visit the Scholarships section for more information and to apply online. Additionally, Metro Transit bus passes are available for Madison students through the Summer Youth Passes program.

Visit GoodmanPool.com for pool waiver information, hours, prices and more.
