The Rochester City Council approved a $100,000 allocation from the City's Contingency Fund on Monday, November 3 to support Channel One Regional Food Bank. The funding will help ensure residents have access to food and infant formula in the event of changes to federal benefit programs.
City teammates will work with Channel One to finalize a service agreement that outlines how and when the funds would be distributed, establishes accountability measures and identifies opportunities to coordinate with other local partners. Funds may be released as needed to respond to verified community impacts related to federal program changes.
Channel One Regional Food Bank serves thousands of individuals and families across southeastern Minnesota, including residents of Rochester. The organization works with partner agencies and volunteers to provide meals, food boxes and infant supplies to those facing food insecurity.
