If you are voting in person at this year's local elections on Thursday 7 May 2026, you will need to take along photo ID with you (original versions and not a photocopy).

Accepted ID includes a passport, a photo card driving licence, blue badge, a proof of age card, travel concessionary cards funded by the UK Government, Biometric Immigration document, Defence Identity Card or National Identity Card.

A Merseytravel local 60+ travel pass is not a permitted form of ID. However, the Merseytravel National state pension age travel pass is a permitted form of ID.

A full list of accepted ID can be viewed here.

If you have a form of accepted ID but it's out of date, you can still use it if it looks like you.

If you don't have an accepted form of ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. Further details about how to apply can be found here.

If you need assistance, please call the Electoral Commission helpline on 0800 328 0280.

You can also request a hard copy of the form by calling the Knowsley Election Team on 0151 443 2222 or emailing [email protected]

If you need a Voter Authority Certificate, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Tuesday 28 April 2026 but you are advised to apply as soon as possible.
