Secretary-General of ASEAN Receives Courtesy Call from Joint-Chairman of the Malaysian Industry–Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT)

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today received Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid, Joint-Chairman of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. The discussion highlighted MIGHT's preliminary proposal on the potential establishment of an ASEAN Centre for Science Diplomacy, aimed at promoting knowledge exchange, capacity building, and science-informed policymaking across the region, in alignment with the ASEAN Plan of Action on STI (APASTI) 2026-2035. The meeting also reinforced the vital role of diplomatic engagement and international partnerships in advancing ASEAN's innovation and regional integration. It also reaffirmed the shared commitment to positioning ASEAN as a regional powerhouse in science, technology, and innovation, fostering collaboration for sustainable progress.
